Memorial Hall 50th anniversary

At a recent meeting we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the use of the Hall by the people of Glenfield. Having been involved in the meetings, leading up to the building of the Hall in the early sixties, it is strange I should have become involved again more recently.

In drawing attention to this memorable anniversary Gazette readers may like to know that there have been alterations recently increasing the toilet facilities - doubling those for men and a 50% increase in capacity for the ladies.

The opportunity to realign the main door and create a new entry to the main hall with a secure area for hanging outdoor clothing has also been taken.
Finally the path across the front of the Hall has been tarmacked with a spur towards the pedestrian crossing. It only remains for the Leicestershire County Council to carry the path to the crossing to create a safe path to the front door – perhaps they could even spend some of the £1.6 million to benefit Glenfield. They gave us absolutely nothing towards the Hall improvements, but being an optimist, I still hope that after living for 56 years in the village, that some day Glenfield will receive some financial help from L.C.C - it would be a first!
