Vintage bus rides

The Year Two children at The Hall were visited by volunteers from the Leicester Heritage Transport Bus Trust. As part of their travel topic the Trust brought along a 1950s Leyland Leicester City transport bus. The children all climbed aboard to learn about bus services in the past. They had their original tickets punched by the conductor and looked at the engine as well as ringing the bell. They were given activity pack which they were able to take home to continue their learning. This exciting experience has made their topic 'real and interesting'. The No. 16's destination was Glenfield Road, via King Richard's Road, from the city centre; many readers will have fond memories of catching this bus home from 'town'. One child was heard talking to their parent on the way home from school, "It was great, I loved it. Can we go on a bus?" The Trust volunteers had an exciting afternoon and were thrilled with the questions the children asked as well as their enthusiasm.
