Stress relief through laughter?

Talk by Helen Rowe, on "Stress Relief using Laughter & Mindfulness".
Helen, who surprisingly has a certificate in 'Laughter', clearly knew how to get her audience laughing. It wasn't about jokes or funny stories, her outgoing and confident personality drew us in and we were soon laughing along with her. After a few laughing exercises singing 'he he', 'ha ha' and 'ho ho', most of us were laughing uncontrollably.
A Doctor Kataria from India invented Laughter Yoga, which is now practiced all over the world and has a massive following. A medical doctor by profession, he has discovered that laughter is not only very good exercise but also causes the brain to release endorphins which make you feel good both physically and mentally.
Helen also talked about 'Mindfulness' which is the perfect antidote to stress and worry. It's apparently all about living in the moment, being aware of your surroundings and not thinking about the past or future.
The evening was a huge success and after a five minute meditation exercise, we went home feeling much lighter and with plenty to think about.
