Choir concert success

I have been to many concerts performed by the Glenfield Ladies Cooperative Choir and have never been disappointed. The choice of songs and the rendering of them have been first class. Nonetheless, I have to say on May 13th 2017, the choir excelled themselves on every front. St. Anne's Church provided the ideal setting for the love songs – all the better for being a mixture of familiar and new. Geoff Hurd, the conductor, had put together a wonderful selection, with Mary Starrie providing the accompaniment on the piano.
To add to the enjoyment of the evening we had two remarkable young soloists, Rhian Knott and Liam James Karai. Their solos and duets were an absolute delight. They sang Mozart compositions in German, and such was their wonderful performance, it didn't matter a whit that I didn't understand a word of it. It was beautiful to hear and very emotional.
I liked the outlay of the programmes very much. I read it very quickly at the time, and can do so again at my leisure.
Although I have left the "support staff" of the concert until last, nevertheless they were outstanding. Hilary's husband, David, was on the door, and no one greets people better than David. Hilary and David's son, Matt, and his young lady, Andrea, were in charge of the programmes and raffle, again all smiles. Hilary's sister, Lesley, and Lesley's husband, David, were doing sterling work in the Hall, setting tables and chairs out, laying cloths and place settings, all ready for the interval. Both Lesley and Hilary had been busy for hours making over 200 fancy cakes between them – I think everyone would agree with me, it was a huge success and added to everyone's enjoyment – especially the teapots and fancy cosies. Cathy Harrell was an enormous help too.
Lesley's David was in charge of the photography – I have seen the results, very very good.
Many thanks are due to everyone who made it such a happy and pleasant evening of entertainment. I'm confident I speak for all the audience – I noticed, like me, they were in no hurry to go home. That says it all.
