Scout Jamboree

In July 2019 three of our local scouts and one of our Explorers from 42nd Glenfield Scouting have been given the opportunity to attend the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA.
The World Scout Jamboree is an educational event that brings together Scouts from around the world to experience new adventures, cultures and friendships, promoting peace and mutual understanding, and which will develop leadership and life skills.
These are 4 of just 56 Scouts across Leicestershire who have been selected to represent our Country at the World Scout Jamboree. They now need to raise £4,100 each in order to attend – this money not only covers the cost of their participation but importantly it also funds Scouts from under privileged countries and allows them to attend as well.
This is a tough challenge but they are determined to do it not just for them but for all those other Scouts as well. Some of the children have taken on part time jobs and are also holding many local fundraising activities such as - Fish and Chip Bingo evening on the 27th April , Afternoon Vintage Tea 19th May, Craft Fairs and a Christmas Bazaar to name but a few. All to be held at our local Scout Hut please look out for posters and adverts for these events.
If you would like more information, would like to attend one of these events or have anything to donate for raffle prizes please contact Amanda Taylor on 07981417698 or Michelle Cunningham on 07917505802 alternatively please do not hesitate to speak with the Scout Leaders at the 42nd Glenfield Scout Hut.
