The secret life of birds

Glenfield WI, April Meeting – 'Garden Birds – Secrets of Birds in your Garden by Chris Edwards.
Chris had always had a great interest in birds and had belonged to the Young Ornithologists Club in his youth. He started his career in the IT industry but gave it up and landed himself the perfect job with the RSPB, becoming the Visitor & Promotions Officer in 2008 at the new nature reserve at Middleton Lakes.
Always a bird watcher 'but not a 'Twitcher', Chris loves to study the comings and goings of birds in his garden with his camera at the ready which he says, proves that you don't need to travel miles to enjoy wildlife.
Chris's talk was brilliant, funny at times and very interesting. Did you know that birds sunbathe in the afternoon, that Blackbirds are the first to wake in the morning and that Bluetits don't drink because they get all the moisture they need from the insects they eat?
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening looking at his photographs and listening to his recordings of bird song.
The Glenfield WI meets on the third Tuesday of the month in St. Peter's Church Hall @ 7.30 and visitors are assured of a very warm welcome for a nominal fee of £3.00. Please check out our Website (just search 'Glenfield WI' on your computer) to find out more about us and what we do.
