Behind the scenes at Birmingham Airport

Gary who lives in Ashby de la Zouch was very entertaining from the start and admitted that after 29 years working at Birmingham Airport, there wasn't much he hadn't seen. Nearly thirteen million people pass through this airport annually making it the seventh busiest in the UK.
Gary showed us some of the property that had been confiscated from passengers over the years from belt buckles in the shape of handguns and grenades to gas canisters and lock knives. On a more serious note though, he also talked about the real firearms, drugs and machetes that had also been seized.
He talked us through the 'booking in' process and explained the most common reasons to cause holdups and long queues. Such was his humour, his talk ended all too soon and we were left wanting more.
Gary was a brilliant speaker and we had a great evening. He clearly enjoys his job and obviously has many more very funny stories to tell.
