Variety is the spice of life

Variety is the spice of life. So the saying goes, and for Glenfield Park WI I think this is probably true if recent weeks are anything to go by.
We had an amusing talk by Elizabeth Robinson entitled "an Evening of Laughter". Her talk comprised anecdotes, jokes and funny poems. She also included tales from her time as a teacher. There was much chuckling and of course the occasional groan at the punchline of some jokes. How is it that having heard all these witticisms at the end of the evening you can't remember many of them, including the evening's competition winner: What's at the bottom of the sea and shivers? A nervous wreck!!! We were very genteel during the month, indulging in afternoon tea at Ulverscroft Grange. They certainly laid on a sumptuous spread for us, such as a variety of sandwiches including smoked salmon, scones with cream and jam and a wonderful array of cakes, plus "doggy bags" for later. Forget your diet ladies. In complete contrast several members and friends embarked on an intrepid adventure down the Congo river, braving crocodiles and gorillas armed with machetes, well no not really. Our weapons were in fact golf clubs and with much hilarity we completed an 18 round course of crazy golf. Highly recommended!
