Martin High prom, & more

After a really successful year, we thank parents, carers and the community for their continued support of Martin High School.

The summer GCSE's for Year 11 went really well. Learners were well prepared and approached the exam season with maturity and focus. We are really proud of them and look forward to celebrating their successes on results day on Thursday 24th August 2017.

This year we have also used the summer term for Year 10 mock week, and Key Stage 3 end of year exams, and again our learners made us proud with their mature approach.

Years 5 and 6 have been to MHS and induction of our new Year 7 learners was hugely successful; we are very much looking forward to them joining us.

This final week has been action packed and a real celebration of everyone's hard work. We have had reward trips, sports day and our famous Bowline Walk as well as a whole school assembly and concert to close 2017.

All at the staff and pupils at MHS wish you a lovely summer and thank you for your continued support. It is only by working together that we will achieve success.

"Inspiring all to dream more, learn more, do more and become more.

School Kitchen Refurbishment
The kitchen is being refurbished throughout the summer holidays and work will begin on Monday 10th July, this is long overdue, as the kitchen has not been completely updated since the school was built.

Summer Nights
Our recent sell out 'Summer Nights' event was a fantastic coming together and celebration of the artistic talent we have at the school. The event, which took place on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th July, started with an Art, technology and textiles exhibition showing the creations from our talented young people.

Later the night was filled with a collection of performances from our students (and staff) which included dance, drama and music in the theme of 1950's America with extracts from the musical 'Grease', a student Motown Melody including 'Be My Baby' and some spectacular numbers from our school's rock 'n' roll band 'Day of the Moon.'

It was a great way to end the term with the community coming together and showing support. For this we are very thankful.

Beyond Bullying Award
Over the course of this academic year; pupils, staff, parents and Governors have been working together to achieve the 'Beyond Bullying Award' for the Martin High School. Through evidencing the fantastic practice and robust policies we have in place to support our young people we are very pleased to announce that the award has been secured.
On 27th June 2017, pupils and staff were invited to attend an awards ceremony for the nationally recognised 'Beyond Bullying Award' at the Space Centre in Leicester and a fantastic day was had by all! (Below are some pictures from the event).
We are very proud to have achieved this award that recognises what a supportive, inclusive and community spirited school the Martin High School is.

Year 11 Prom
On Friday 23rd June the Year 11 prom was held at King Power Stadium. It was a fantastic evening for pupils and staff as we shared in the memories and successes of the last five years together.

We were extremely proud of our young people as they arrived looking fabulous and so grown up.

The evening consisted of good food, speeches, lots of dancing and a live performance from our very own band, Day of the Moon. It truly was the perfect end to their time at Martin High School and hopefully a night they will always remember!
