Exploring Castleton

We returned to this beautiful area in Derbyshire before half term for 3 action and fun-packed days.
The children took part in bushcraft activities, including shelter building, whittling wood, fire building and making nettle tea. It was wonderful to see the children having so much fun outdoors. They worked particularly well in their teams.
They also took part in a village study, comparing this small rural village, which is now largely dependent on the tourist industry, to Glenfield.
During the trip, the children also took part in a historical timeline, when they dressed up as Celts, Romans and Normans and they build their own trebuchets before firing sponge balls at one another.
Cave painting and fencing were also very popular. However did we fit it all in?
