Wildlife Trust talk

Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust by Simon Bentley.
Simon Bentley is Director of the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust, which was formed in 1956 and is one of a network of 47 Trusts across the UK.
Simon was a brilliant speaker and with the support of beautiful photographs of wildlife and plants, we were transported across heath land, reservoirs and ancient woodlands. We learnt about some of the many smaller nature reserves as well as Rutland Water with its reservoir, eight lagoons and visitor centres and also how gravel pits are reverted back to ditches, ponds and reed beds once the diggers have left.
We learnt about kingfishers, otters, bats, short eared owls, and the list goes on. Simon's talk covered it all and we were disappointed when he ran out of time. There's plenty of information on the internet about Simon and the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust and their ongoing work if you are interested to learn more.
Why not join us in December? Elisabeth Robinson is our guest speaker with a talk entitled 'An evening of Laughter'.
The Glenfield WI meets on the third Tuesday of the month in St. Peter's Church Hall @ 7.30 and visitors are assured of a very warm welcome for a nominal fee of £3.00. Please check out our Website (just search 'Glenfield WI' on your computer) to find out more about us and what we do.
