Canal and River Trust training

The children at The Hall learnt about water safety with the education officers from the Canal and River Trust in Leicestershire. They were taught about the acronym for SAFE: Stay Away From the Edge and about the hazards around waterways. They also learnt about rescue and the children acted out scenarios thinking about the different options. Dangers happen so easily it is important that the children learn these basic life skills. The clear message is that waterways are a great to have fun around but always be careful and know what to do in an emergency.

Each child was given a booklet with quizzes, stickers and key information to help remember and stay safe. As one child said to the officers, "I am going on holiday on a boat with my family. I know what to do to stay safe. Thank you."
