An evening of laughter

Elisabeth Robinson, an ex-teacher treated us to an hour of funny stories, poems, silly spelling mistakes by her ex-pupils and daft jokes. She was very amusing from the start and we found the whole evening very enjoyable.
January 2018 – Our 96th Birthday Party
Well what a lovely way to spend an evening and start our New Year!
Our meal, provided by Joe Breward was delicious as always and Wendy Kirk, our outgoing Skittles Captain was called upon to cut our birthday cake.
Our guest speaker, the Rev. Canon Alan Haydock rounded the evening off with his talk, 'Confessions of a Country Vicar'.
Alan has served the whole of his Ministry in Nottinghamshire and became a Canon of Southwell Minster in 1986.
He supports both Nottingham football teams, has been a Rotarian for over forty years and has donated over £80,000 to local churches, charities and sporting organisations from money raised through his 'speaking' fees.
His sense of humour was dry, very clever and we laughed at his jokes and anecdotes throughout. It proved to be a great tonic for us all; we had a truly brilliant evening and we'll be chuckling for weeks to come.
The Glenfield WI meets on the third Tuesday of the month in St. Peter's Church Hall @ 7.30 and visitors are assured of a very warm welcome for a nominal fee of £3.00. Please check out our Website (just search 'Glenfield WI' on your computer) to find out more about us and what we do.
